Patients with hypertension increase physical activity, reduce blood pressure levels after TKA

Patients in this study with hypertension who underwent total knee replacement reported increased physical activity and reduced systolic and diastolic blood pressure, but patients with type II diabetes mellitus in the same study did not have reduced blood glucose level.“Our study showed increased physical activity postoperatively, and reduction in systolic and diastolic blood pressure, though this cannot be attributed entirely to increased physical activity,” the researchers wrote in the study. “Reduced dependence on [non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs] NSAIDs may have also acted as a contributor.”
